After School Program
The After-School Program is an on-campus, district sponsored, and fee-for-service program for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The program provides a safe, nurturing environment and offers a variety of activities designed to both entertain students and enhance their social and academic development.
Beth Hill is the director of the program and has a BA in Art Education.
To attend ASP, students must be enrolled on a full-time, part-time (30 minutes minimum charge, then charges accrue for every 15 minutes after that), or drop-in basis. Drop in care must be reserved at least 24 hours in advance. Parents/guardians must notify their child’s teacher in writing of their ASP schedule and in the case of any change of plans for attendance in the after school program. The ASP is located on the lower campus in the room next to the library.
The hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday: 12:30- 5:30 p.m. The ASP observes all the holidays and school breaks on the school calendar with a few exceptions. The program may be open during summer months and Spring Break if there is sufficient enrollment.
After School Enrichment Programs
We offer a variety of after school enrichment programs that may differ from year to year but in the past have included: ukulele, art, band, Spanish, and Lego robotics. All after school enrichment classes are fee-based, although we keep the fees as low as possible to encourage participation. Information about all after school enrichment programs and registrations forms are available in the school office.
On Wednesday afternoons from 12:30-1:30, local artists come to our school for eight week long art sessions. These sessions are partially sponsored by a grant awarded to Santa Cruz Mountain Arts Center, so classes are offered for a very low cost. During each eight-week session, children will explore using a different kind of artistic medium, from clay to mural art. These classes are very popular and fill up quickly.
For questions and further information about after school enrichment classes, please call or visit the school office.
