Math Problem Solving: Algebra Part 6 in Google Classroom

Math Problem Solving: Algebra Part 6

I am posting this on Monday, even though it will not be due until Friday, because I was told that this would be easier on the survey that was sent home. I will not be able to add reflections and Good mistakes from problem 5 until Wednesday. I will add those into the comments. I will do it this way from now on, assuming it works out well.

Math Problem Solving: Algebra Part 5

Reflections, 4/16/20:
Read these reflections/Good Mistakes First:

Hayden’s reflection: at first I was not very confident with my answer so I solved it another way. The second time that I solved it I still got 24, I was not confident because it says “who is correct?” and my answer showed that neither of them were correct.

Kaden’s Reflection: When I first saw the problem I thought that Spencer was right, but then I actually did the expression to see if by just looking at the expression if I was correct. And I was not correct by just looking.

Nora’s Reflection: This problem was harder than the others. I was kind of stuck on who was correct. First I thought nobody then I thought Spencer then I thought Nora! Then I came back to thinking that nobody was correct. Overall, this was a good level problem for me.

Gabby’s good mistake (that helped her find the right answer): I tested by plugging in 24 as c and the answer is incorrect.

Math Problem Solving: Algebra Part 3

Read these reflections/Good Mistakes First:
Reflections 4/3/20:
Hayden: In the beginning, I almost solved the subtraction before the multiplication but once I got over that it was pretty easy.

Wesley: This problem definitely caught me at some points. At one point, I thought that five to the second power meant five times two, but really meant to make two fives, then five times five to get twenty five. That definitely messed me up and I had to restart.

Good Mistake: Ms. Smith: On the seventh grade key, I forgot the negative sign on the answer to part b. I wrote 83,016, when it should actually be -83,016. Seeing Josie’s work helped me to catch my mistake.
