I agree with Eleanor Duckworth that, "the more we help children to have their wonderful ideas and to feel good about themselves for having them, the more likely it is that they will someday happen upon wonderful ideas that no one else has happened upon before." I think that teaching is supporting each child’s individual strengths and encouraging them to uncover and discover information in their own unique way. Creativity is central in my classroom, and I strive to make learning fun and fresh. I want my students to become innovative thinkers and active community members who make a difference.

About Bonny Doon School:
I feel so incredibly lucky and honored that my teaching path has led me to Bonny Doon! When I was attending UCSC for my teaching credential, we were asked to create the “ideal school.” I had constructed an impossible laundry list of items: a school that embraces the whole child, a place where parents and families are involved in their child’s education, a beautiful campus surrounded by gardens, a cohesive staff that works together for the best of the students, and a place where students can be inspired to learn and create. Imagine my surprise (and delight) when I first visited Bonny Doon campus and saw my visions become a reality! Working here is truly like a dream. I can not wait to begin the school year, and I anticipate adding even more reasons to the list of why I love this school and its community!

Although I spent the first few months of my life as a Hoosier in Indiana (shh, don’t tell!) I am a Californian to my core. Raised in San Diego, I feel off balance when I can’t be near the ocean and feel the sand between my toes. I love searching for, collecting, and arranging treasures whether its finding beauty in a vintage children’s cookbook at the flea market or using my camera to capture the details of a new place. I adore animals and spend a good amount of my free time spoiling my beagle, Petey. I also enjoy organizing events so I have an excuse to decorate and cook for my loved ones!
